Lesson 4 - The Description Meta Tags

Meta Tags

Not all Search Engines use meta tags to rank sites. However, many do so you would be very wise to include them in your website.

The two metatags I will explain here are description and keywords.

The Description Meta Tag

This contains a description of your site. It should be as concise as possible and should include the most important keyword phrases in your site.

To enter a description in Dreamweaver

1. Go to the Insert Panel. Select on the arrow on the top right hand side of the panel.

2. Select Head from the list that appears.

3. Choose the description icon.

4. In the box that appears enter something that provides information about your site content. Keep your description text concise and relevant.

Lesson 5 - Keywords
