Adding a fancy font to your website

Creating text

Back

First of all you need to create a workspace, otherwise called a canvas, on which to create your font. To do this:

1. Choose File/New from the main menu.

2. You have to set the width and height of your workspace which is called a canvas. I usually set it to be slightly larger than you want the size of your font to be. If you are inserting the image into a cell, make sure the canvas isn’t larger than the cell itself.

3. Now set the colour of the canvas. This will show as the background to your text.
Note: If you set the background colour to be the same as the background colour of your web page or specific cell it will blend in.

4. Set the canvas colour by clicking on the colour box on the right.

5. Click OK

6. You will now want to add some text. Select the text tool and click once on the canvas where you want to start typing the name of your group.

7. Type in some text e.g. the name of your group. You will notice that a Property Inspector will appear at the bottom of the screen. This allows you to apply fonts, colours, etc. Choose the new font that you have installed.

8. When you have written your text export it as a Gif file, making sure that you export it to the folder where all your website files are.

9. You can now insert it into your web page as an image. This way people will see your text exactly as you intended it to look.

You will notice now that by choosing a more attractive font can dramatically improve the look of your webpage and make yours stand out from the rest.
