Adding a fancy font to your website

Installing a font

Back

Note: You will need an unzipping program on your computer to unzip the fonts you download. Winzip is the most popular and you can download it for free at www.winzip.com.

1. I suggest you first create a folder on your desktop and call it fonts. This is so you have a specified location to where you can download your fonts.

2. Go to www.fontfile.com or a similar website

3. Browse through the list of fonts.

4. When you find a font download it. On fontfile.com you just click on the Download button.

5. It will ask you if you want to open it or save it. Save it in the fonts folder you have just created.

6. You will receive the font as a zip file.

7. Go to the folder and click on the font. It will automatically open up winzip. Your font should be listed in the Winzip box. Click on it and extract the font to the same folder you have got the zip file

8. You now need to install this on your computer. To do this:

9. Go to Start/Settings/Control panel.

10. Locate the Fonts icon and click on it to open. This contains all the fonts that are installed on your computer.

11. Copy the extracted font and paste it into the font’s folder.

12. If you now open your program that you want to use the font in you will find it in the list of available fonts.

You can now create the font in Fireworks.
